WLMB-TV 40 History

1 Corinthians 1:9
God, who has called you into fellowship with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, is faithful.

For many years, we have seen the mark of God’s faithfulness toward this ministry.  Praise be to God for this exciting journey.

1985 – Ron Mighell birthed the dream for Christian TV in Toledo, OH.

1992 – The FCC grants a license to broadcast on TV Channel 40.

1995 – WLMB rents its first office space on Monroe Street in Toledo, OH.

April 6, 1996 – WLMB dedicates the land for the transmitter site in Jasper, MI.

1997 – WLMB moves to offices in Rossford, OH.

September 1997 – WLMB begins construction on the TV transmitter tower and facility.

October 18, 1998 – WLMB-TV 40 signs on the air.  Local Christian TV begins for Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan.

January 1999 – WLMB finds a 3,600 sq. ft. temporary solution for office space in Perrysburg, OH.

October 18, 1999 – WLMB has its first live telethon out of a lawn shed at the transmitter site in Jasper, MI.

July 5, 2000 – WLMB launches “Find A Local Church” its first locally produced program.

Summer 2001 – WLMB purchased land to build on 825 Capital Commons Drive in Toledo, OH.

November 2001 – WLMB begins its outreach partnership with Operation Christmas Child to help needy children around the world.

Summer 2002 – WLMB grows office space claiming the front portion of a shared building expanding to 7,200 sq. ft.

February 10, 2003 – WLMB is awarded its first TV Station of the Year award from the National Religious Broadcasters.  WLMB went on to win again in 2004 & 2007.

October 2, 2003 – Pastor’s Point launches its first episode on WLMB and since has produced over 240 episodes.

Fall 2003 – Ground breaking for the WLMB microwave tower and master control cente

January 4, 2004 - WLMB begins broadcasting digital television expanding it’s expanding it’s potential broadcast reach to over 2.5 million viewers.

Spring 2005 – WLMB completes Phase One of the 1,200 sq. ft. Master Control and Microwave Tower building project.

October 8, 2005 – WLMB’s first live broadcast from Toledo, OH happened and the Master Control Center was moved to Toledo, OH.

January 15, 2006 – WLMB produces its first syndicated television show of “Discovering the Jewish Jesus” on the NRB Network.

April 20, 2007 – WLMB broke ground for the 10,384 sq. ft. WLMB Christian Television Ministry Center.

December 31, 2007 – WLMB Christian Television Ministry Center dedication was broadcast live.

February 1, 2008 – WLMB launches a it’s first 24 hour prayer line.

April 25, 2008 - WLMB hosts a Les Feldick Bible Seminar, which became our first TV special in front of a studio audience.

Summer 2008 – WLMB outfits the studio with acoustical treatments and lighting grid installations.

October 6, 2008 – WLMB launches its first new show in the ministry center, “Cooking for Busy People”

April 27, 2009 – WLMB partners with “In the Beginning Ministries” to produce a seminar and TV special featuring Dr. Jerry Bergman.

May 7th, 2009 - WLMB locally produces a 12-hour live “Concert of Prayer” on the National Day of Prayer.

June 13, 2009 – WLMB signs off analog TV 40 and begins the government mandated digital only era of broadcast television.

September 29, 2009 – WLMB hosts Toledo’s Mayoral Candidates for the first live televised forum of the 2009 general election.

October 7th, 2009 – WLMB produces a “A Ridiculous Deal,” which covers concerns about the statewide gambling initiative of Issue 3.

October 18, 2009 - WLMB celebrates its 11th Anniversary of broadcasting to Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan.

February 27, 2010 - WLMB receives it's 4th Television Station of the Year Award from the National Religious Broadcasters in Nashville, TN.
